Our Le Papier Cake is a true labor of love, featuring hundreds of delicately hand-cut edible wafer paper panels, individually shaped and assembled by hand to create this sculptural edible masterpiece. Inspired by the fluidity of folded paper art, pleated textiles, and modern couture draping, each layer is thoughtfully arranged to create soft movement, dimension, and texture from every angle.
Delicate sprays of airy white Baby's Breath flowers are organically woven throughout the monochromatic ivory folds, adding a soft romanticism and an almost weightless quality to the design. The subtle contrast between the structured wafer paper and the fragile floral accents creates a composition that feels both architectural and ethereal — like cascading fabric suspended in motion.
Finished with edible shimmer and our signature sculptural gold candles, this cake blurs the line between dessert and contemporary art object — an elegant statement piece designed for intimate celebrations, modern bridal soirées, fashion-forward editorials, and refined candlelit dinners.
What is edible wafer paper?
Edible wafer paper is a delicate, paper-like decorating medium commonly used in luxury cake artistry and sugar work to create sculptural details that would otherwise be impossible with traditional frosting alone. Made primarily from potato starch, water, and vegetable oil, wafer paper is 100% edible, food-safe, and widely used throughout the world of modern cake design.
While completely safe for consumption, wafer paper has very little flavor or sweetness on its own, which is why we typically recommend gently removing the decorative wafer paper pieces before slicing and serving the cake. The wafer paper is intended primarily as an artistic décor element — adding movement, texture, and an ethereal couture-inspired finish to the overall design while transforming the cake into an edible centerpiece.
